Our Education Law Group provides experienced legal representation to parents, students, teachers, administrators, staff members, and educational institutions at both the k-12 and college levels. Educational relationships are governed by a wide array of federal and state laws, which frequently present overlapping issues. Our multi-disciplined attorneys, whose practice areas include education law, administrative law, regulatory law, employment law, contract law and negotiation, and civil and criminal litigation, offer clients comprehensive advice and assistance.
The head of our Education Law Group, Orion Callison (Columbia Law School, ’88), grew up in a scholastic environment. His parents were high school teachers, his grandmother was an elementary school teacher, and his aunt was a high school guidance counselor in one of the nation’s largest high schools. Mr. Callison himself taught a class in advanced legal writing at Saint Thomas University School of Law. He is the father of two high school aged children. This immersive background provides a unique perspective on the educational system and its many intricacies, relationships and issues. In addition, while at a previous firm Mr. Callison served as outside legal counsel to Nova Southeastern University and to the Miami-Dade County School Board.
